Options Under Public International Law to Increase Resource Efficiency
Start: | 1st of May 2016 |
Description: | This research project aims to support from a legal and political science point of view the goal of the German Federal Government to strengthen the international awareness of resource protection. It analyses how international law and other international steering mechanisms can contribute to a more efficient use of resources and a reduction in their consumption.
The study focuses on abiotic resources (metals or ores, other mineral resources, fossil resources) and their exploitation, processing, or other utilization. Possibilities for increasing resource efficiency and other resource protection will be assessed along the entire value chain. Based on the analysis, concrete courses of action will be explored and policy recommendations developed.
